ReStore Volunteer Manager

The ReStore Volunteer Manager is responsible for all aspects of the ReStore volunteer program across both ReStore locations. The ReStore Volunteer Manager reports to the Volunteer Program Manager with dotted line reporting to the ReStore Director.

Job Title: ReStore Volunteer Manager

Responsibilities:
• Respond to all individual volunteer inquiries about ReStore
• Develop and implement a strategy for actively soliciting, engaging, and retaining ReStore volunteers
• Act as liaison to other organizations who are sending volunteers to ReStore
• Schedule volunteers to meet the volunteer needs of ReStore Staff
• Split time equally between ReStore locations
• Interview and place volunteers for specific needs such as committee, office and special events related to the ReStore
• Coordinate the scheduling of groups and skilled volunteers within ReStore
• Maintain volunteer database and keep records of volunteer activities, including numbers of teams, volunteers, number of hours worked contact information, etc
• Develop and implement formal and informal volunteer appreciation program
• Monitor volunteer satisfaction within the ReStore
• Oversee food, staging and related logistics for volunteers for ReStore events
• Ensure that volunteer liability waivers are signed and filed
• Manage community service volunteers from local jurisdictions
• Contribute to Newsletter for volunteer related articles
• Conduct ReStore Volunteer Orientations for individuals and groups
• Help with community outreach events to inform the public about Habitat for Humanity and all programs related to our affiliate
• Other responsibilities as assigned by Volunteer Coordinator.

Skills:
• Enthusiasm, teamwork focus, and strong customer service orientation
• Well organized and detail oriented
• Effective leadership and team building skills
• Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Possess tact, diplomacy and flexibility
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Computer skills required including MS Office, and social media
• Proven ability to lead groups and work well with people of diverse skill levels and backgrounds.
• Work well in a team setting, sharing input and ideas with others

Education/Experience:
• BA/BS Degree or equivalent
• Personal volunteer experience preferred but not required

Reports to:
Volunteer Program Manager

Job Type:
Tuesday through Saturday, 9-5:30. Some evenings required.

Operation Playhouse Manager

Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester is proud to give back to veterans through Operation Playhouse. As the only Habitat affiliate on the East Coast to offer Operation Playhouse, and one of just a handful across the U.S., the program builds playhouses for the children of veterans in partnership with our volunteers and supporters.

Job Title:

Operation Playhouse Manager

Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Attend and lead all Operation Playhouse builds in a one-day event
• Moderate construction skills are needed: candidate will be comfortable using power tools such as a Table Saw, Chop Saw, Circular Saw, Jig Saw, and Hand Sander
• Maintain and grow an inventory of playhouse kits, sawhorses, paints, and other materials used for playhouse builds
• Communicate and work with partners to keep materials and supplies replenished
• Be comfortable working with staff and with a team on a day to day basis
• Must operate hand trucks for loading and unloading trucks
• Be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and possibly more, and load a truck/van for each playhouse build
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, and be comfortable driving a 14’ truck throughout central Massachusetts to lead the playhouse events
• A current MA DOT card or the ability to qualify for one is necessary.

Skills:
• Moderate construction experience
• Candidate should be enthusiastic and teamwork focused
• Possess strong customer service skills to lead groups and work with people of diverse skill levels and backgrounds at the events.
• Well organized and detail oriented

Job Type:
Monday through Friday, 9-5. Some evenings and weekends.

ReStore ASSOCIATE – Worcester

Job Title: ReStore Associate

Goal of the Job: To support the Habitat for Humanity Metro/West Greater Worcester ReStore.

Responsible To: Worcester Restore Manager

Clerk Hours: Thursday thru Saturday (some flexing is possible)

Time Required: Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
1. Cashier experience
2. Strong customer service skills; Greet and thank customers for their business
3. Register area clean and organized. Help keep facility clean and organized
4. Arrive on time and ready to work. Work clothes and closed toed shoes are required
5. Follow all safety guidelines and instructions from ReStore Director
6. Complete projects in a timely manner, asking for help as needed
7. Assist customers, run cash register and maintain merchandise
8. Respond to phone and email inquiries.
9. Serve as an Ambassador for Habitat for Humanity

Other Duties as Needed:
1. Respond to donor and customer inquiries
2. Schedule donation pickups
3. Clean, test, price, and merchandize donations
4. Assist donors and customers with loading/unloading items from their vehicles
5. Lead/supervise and work with volunteers

Qualifications or special skills needed:
Ability to learn new skills and work well with others. Flexible and willing to be available where needed
Ability to lift 50 lbs

Training provided:
An orientation to the ReStore will be conducted on-site.

ReStore Driver/Donations Ambassador – Worcester

The Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater ReStore is looking for a qualified and experienced full time driver, to pick up donations from homes in the MetroWest/Greater Worcester area, to unload trucks, help load customer vehicles, process donations, and provide general customer service. Warehouse support will be required as assigned.

Job Type: Full time position, 5 days per week (Tuesday-Saturday) position, 40 hours per week.

Salary Range: $14.00-16.00/hour

Full-Time Benefits include health, dental, sick leave, paid holidays & vacation, simple IRA, life insurance, disability, parental, military & bereavement leave & employee discount.

*Part-time positions also available:  $14 - $16/hr; 20-32 hours per week with limited benefits

  • Load and unload all donated materials.
  • Use judgement and experience to screen for product usability (will train!)
  • Operate forklift (preferred)
  • Assist customers, donors and staff in store as needed.

Requirements:

  • Valid MA Driver’s license with clean driving record provided by MA Registry of Motor Vehicles.
  • DOT card required (have or be able to pass the test to receive this certification).
  • Must pass Criminal Background Check and Sexual Offender Check.
  • Experience driving a 22 ft. box truck. No Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
  • At least 25 years of age and with 3 years of professional driving experience with box trucks.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs independently and work as a team to move larger items.
