Family Services Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY: The Family Services Coordinator (FSC) will provide support, leadership, coordination, and certain direct services to Habitat’s family partnership program and committee, and the family selection program committee. In partnership, this includes the period from purchaser selection through closing; the first year of homeownership; and then ongoing, with a special focus on resolving any mortgage delinquencies post first-year. The FSC will be the staff person responsible for fostering good neighbor relations in subdivisions developed by Habitat, and good homeowner association management. In applicant selection the FSC will serve to broadly promote application opportunities, ensure that all receive fair treatment and great “customer service,” that we maintain compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, grant requirements, and local and national Habitat for Humanity principles and policies. The FSC will work in a manner to continue to maximize the engagement of specialized and leadership volunteers in the areas of Applicant Selection and Family Partnership. The FSC is also responsible for process management for the Home Repair program, from information outreach to eligibility assessment and through to project completion.

OVERVIEW: Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester is an independent 501 (c) 3 affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International with an annual budget of approximately $3 million serving 42 communities in Central Massachusetts. Skills and Qualifications:
• Education/training/experience related to social work and/or social service and/or mediation and facilitation and training and/or affordable housing.
• Strong administrative, organizational and detail skills, including basic math competency
• Commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s mission of service to others
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends
• Welcoming and engaging manner; great listening skills, excellent “people” and interview skills and be able to work with all different kinds of people in a positive “can-do” manner
• Ability to succeed in a team/collaborative environment
• Ability to skillfully and thoughtfully interact with a diverse set of stakeholders
• Ability to manage confidential material
• Strong communication skills: written, verbal – individual and small group.
• Ability to supervise and liaison with volunteers and staff, with different levels of responsibility, and continue volunteer engagement in these program areas
• Competency in basic computer skills (word, excel, social media)

Preferred:
• Experience in facilitating/mediating group interactions
• Basic understanding of mortgage lending and finance
• Knowledge of developing and providing training programs and courses.
• Bachelor level college degree, social work preferred

Reports to: Executive Director
Part time exempt: This job will include a mix of regular office hours and flexibility for occasional evening and weekend responsibilities. Approx. 20-30 hours a week.
Background check including driving record & CORI/SORI will be required of finalist.

Assistant ReStore Manager - Ashland

This position assists the Store Manager in administrative and operational functions of the Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester ReStore. The Assistant ReStore Manager assists the Store Manager in achieving operational, financial, administrative and customer service goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the store in the absence of the store manager.
  • Manage all purchased product with the store manager.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service while always seeking to understand the customer and donor needs.
  • Open and close the store as needed.
  • Daily cash drawer reconciliation and deposits.
  • General oversight, development, and review of policies, procedures, store operations and volunteer management in coordination with the store manager.
  • Assist the ReStore Manager in developing and implementing marketing and public relations campaigns for increasing donations and sales.
  • Familiar with social media platforms and ability to maintain such platforms.
  • Oversee the display and organization of showroom sales areas to ensure all items and departments are properly priced and ticketed for sale.
  • Schedule regular training for new and current staff members on new policies and programs.
  • Assist with donation screening, uploading donations and training staff for the price.
  • Assist on the sales floor and moving sold items as needed.
  • Achieve excellent customer, donor, and volunteer ratings.
  • Assist in training new hires as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Computer knowledge including Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have the willingness to learn other programs as needed.
  • Self-motivated, reliable and enthusiastic. Enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Be empathetic to customers, donors, volunteers, and staff while providing excellent service.
  • Ability to handle and defuse challenging situations with tact. Excellent communication and conflict resolutions skills.
  • Commitment to the safe working environment.
  • Ability to provide leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers while also having the ability to perform must task in the absence of staff or volunteers.
  • Ability to operate office equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Forklift certification a plus
  • Ability to develop the procurement capabilities of the store and gain donations through the development of key relationships or business and corporations.

 

Education/Experience

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of retail sales and leadership experience.
  • Retail experience with building materials/hardware preferred.

AmeriCorps National Construction Crew Leader

Construction crew leaders play an integral part in building and repairing more homes, leading to better neighborhoods and communities. As a construction crew leader, you will lead and develop groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers and homeowner families in construction activities all while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment. Using volunteer management techniques, you will manage volunteers and homeowner families as they assist in the building of new homes and/or repairing existing homes or completing weatherization projects. Together, you will perform hands-on construction tasks.

ReStore ASSOCIATE

The goal of this position is to support the ReStore. ReStore is an exciting and fast paced retail environment that supports Habitat’s mission of building homes, communities and hope for local families and veterans.

Job Title: ReStore Associate

Goal of the Job: To support the Habitat for Humanity Metro/West Greater Worcester ReStore.

Responsible To: Restore Manager

Clerk Hours: Thursday thru Saturday (some flexing is possible)

Time Required: Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
1. Cashier experience
2. Strong customer service skills; Greet and thank customers for their business
3. Register area clean and organized. Help keep facility clean and organized
4. Arrive on time and ready to work. Work clothes and closed toed shoes are required
5. Follow all safety guidelines and instructions from ReStore Director
6. Complete projects in a timely manner, asking for help as needed
7. Assist customers, run cash register and maintain merchandise
8. Respond to phone and email inquiries.
9. Serve as an Ambassador for Habitat for Humanity

Other Duties as Needed:
1. Respond to donor and customer inquiries
2. Schedule donation pickups
3. Clean, test, price, and merchandize donations
4. Assist donors and customers with loading/unloading items from their vehicles
5. Lead/supervise and work with volunteers

Qualifications or special skills needed:
Ability to learn new skills and work well with others. Flexible and willing to be available where needed
Ability to lift 50 lbs

Training provided:
An orientation to the ReStore will be conducted on-site.

ReStore Driver/Donations Ambassador

The Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester - ReStore is looking for a qualified and experienced full time driver, to pick up donations from homes in the MetroWest/Greater Worcester area, to unload trucks, help load customer vehicles, process donations, and provide general customer service. Warehouse support will be required as assigned.

Job Type: Full time position, 5 days per week (Tuesday-Saturday) position, 40 hours per week.

Full-Time Benefits include health, dental, sick leave, paid holidays & vacation, simple IRA, life insurance, disability, parental, military & bereavement leave & employee discount.

*Part-time positions also available.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive HFHMW/GW vehicles to pick-up donated goods from homes and businesses.
  • Load and unload all donated materials.
  • Use judgement and experience to screen for product usability (will train!)
  • Operate forklift (preferred)
  • Assist customers, donors and staff in store as needed.

Requirements:

  • Valid MA Driver’s license with clean driving record provided by MA Registry of Motor Vehicles.
  • DOT card required (have or be able to pass the test to receive this certification).
  • Must pass Criminal Background Check and Sexual Offender Check.
  • Experience driving a 22 ft. box truck. No Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
  • At least 25 years of age and with 3 years of professional driving experience with box trucks.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs independently and work as a team to move larger items.
