  3. Walk for Homes

Join us from May 3rd – 31st
Our participants walk, run, or roll 88 miles to represent the local families served through our mission to build homes, communities and hope.

The walk will call attention to important and timely issues: the plight of single women who need a safe and affordable home and to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in housing.  We are committed to providing safe and affordable homes for everyone. At the present time, 83% of our affordable and safe homes are female owned.  In addition, 53% of the people we partner with for affordable housing are people of color.  However there is more to be done. No matter who we are, we deserve to feel strength and stability day after day. We deserve to know we have the power to take care of ourselves and build our own futures. We encourage you to walk with us to raise awareness and funds to help achieve housing affordability and security for all. Through shelter, we empower.

Warm up Week: Monday, April 26th – Sunday, May 2nd
Get connected!  During warm up week, we encourage participants to pre-register, and connect fitness devices to MoveSpring, our online software that allows for a great virtual team – or solo – experience.  Get moving now for practice, and start thinking about who to contact for fundraising.  We will award prizes for the top distances and the top fundraisers. See below for more details.

Virtual Walk for Homes: Monday, May 3rd – Monday, May 31st
Start moving!  Participants will walk, run or roll 88 miles in 29 days.  The 88 miles represents the 88 families we have served through affordable housing and our home repair program.

Bonus challenge - Add 96 more miles to your goal in honor of President Jimmy Carter who is celebrating his 96th birthday this year!  President Carter, along with his wife Roslaynn, have helped to build many homes for families in need of a safe, decent and affordable place to live. See below for prizes we will be awarding this year for the walkers who go the greatest distances and for the top fundraisers.

New Awards this Year!  We will be presenting ReStore gift cards in the amount of $75, $50, and $25 each to:

  1. The three highest fundraisers and
  2. The three participants who accumulate the greatest distance.

Enjoy supporting local families who need an affordable home while using your gift cards at our Ashland or Worcester ReStores, where treasure and unique gifts await you: www.letsrestore.org

We encourage each participant to raise $500 (or more!) by inviting family, friends and colleagues to support their effort. Click here for fundraising tips!

We’ll provide the fundraising platform and tools to make it easy, as well as access to the MoveSpring online experience to make it a fun and engaging virtual event for you and your team.

Participants will be able to sync their fitness device to track progress in the MoveSpring app, learn more about our mission to build homes, communities and hope, unlock fun and interesting milestones along the way, and connect virtually with other participants – all while making a difference in the lives of local families.

Remember – every dollar you raise helps call attention to single women who need a safe and affordable home and to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in housing. Please help – local families are counting on you!
