An Important Message about Women Build 2020 and the COVID-19 Outbreak
• The on-line fundraising portion of Women Build 2020 is moving forward as planned. It’s the perfect opportunity to support women and families who need affordable housing by fundraising from the safety of your home. However, due to the current health crisis, each team’s build days will be scheduled when it is safe to do so.
• We strongly encourage you to keep fundraising virtually – on-line – on behalf of the families who desperately need our help. Some of our teams are sponsored, and we also encourage you to move forward. You don’t need to leave your house to ask for support, and it will be a great way to stay active and enthused during those long hours in the house. A Women Build team build date can be offered once it is safe to move forward.
• Now, more than ever, local women and families who need a safe and affordable home are counting on your support. So many of the local families we help will be affected deeply by the coronavirus. A loss in wages means they will have limited funds to pay for food, which in turn impacts their own ability – and their children’s ability – to stay healthy. Many will have difficulty paying the rent or for transportation needed to go to a grocery store or to keep medical appointments.
• Please remember, the people we serve aren’t as lucky as you or I to live in a decent home. The places where they reside are less than ideal – many with no back yards to at least get the kids out and exercising – and now they, like all of us, have no choice but to stay at home. Please help, every bit matters. Our online platform is open!
