COVID-19 Update

As of Monday, September 20, 2021 The City of Worcester has issued a mask mandate.  Regardless of your vaccination status, you must wear a face mask in our Worcester ReStore, Worcester Affiliate Offices and our Home Build site located at 81 Harrison Street in Worcester, MA. Please stay tuned for updates. We will communicate these updates on our website, social media, and email. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we navigate the pandemic together.

  1. Habitat for Humanity administrative offices will remain closed to the public except by appointment. You must wear a face mask when inside our Worcester office. The office staff are accessible over the phone by calling 508-799-9259 or by email at office@habitatmwgw.org.
  2. Volunteer update: Given the current climate, our volunteer programs are limited. At this time, we are welcoming back our repeat regular volunteers.  These volunteers have been previously oriented, trained, and have worked with us on a consistent basis during the past 12-24 months.  If you are an individual who is able to make a long-term consistent commitment to volunteering at either our ReStore or out on our construction site, a 1:1 virtual orientation can be scheduled.  Participation in the virtual orientation is required.  All volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.  Please contact Molly Pietrantonio, Volunteer Program Manager, for more information volunteer@habitatmwgw.org.
  3. Construction is active at two sites currently, inviting 3-4 volunteers at each site. At one site, the work has been mostly indoors and space is limited, therefore 3 volunteers are onsite to allow for social distancing.  At the other site, the work is mostly outdoors and 4 volunteers are allowed.  However, if any of the work is indoors, a mask must be worn, adhering to Worcester’s recent indoor mask mandate.  All volunteers must have a signed COVID waiver.  If you are not vaccinated, you must wear a mask at all times.  All volunteers are required to pre-register with the volunteer coordinator, walk-ons cannot be accepted.
  4. Both the Ashland and Worcester ReStores are open to the public for both donations and sales.  Please visit the ReStore website for hours of operations and donation drop off days and times: www.letsrestore.org We ask customers to continue maintaining social distancing while shopping and waiting to checkout.  We ask unvaccinated shoppers to wear face masks while shopping if they are medically able to do so.  Our associates and volunteers are also following social distancing guidelines. Worcester has issued a mask mandate.  Regardless of your vaccination status, you must wear a face mask in our Worcester ReStore.  Keeping in mind everyone’s safety, our staff and volunteers are not able to help carry items to cars at both ReStore locations.  We ask that you have help available to transport the items should you need it.  We continue to clean and disinfect high traffic areas and frequently touched surfaces.  Donations are being disinfected and wiped down before being placed on the sales floor.  While onsite, the use of PPE (e.g. masks, eye protection and gloves) is encouraged.
