Youth Opportunities

Although individuals under 16-years-old cannot take part in regular construction of our homes, there are great opportunities to get youth involved with HFH-MW/GW either individually or in groups!

Young Children Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity

  • Lunch providers: A great group activity for girl scouts, boy scouts, youth groups, school groups or a group of friends to get together to prepare and provide lunch for build site volunteers.  This opportunity is available on scheduled build days and should be arranged through the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Cans for Habitat: This program is a national partnership between HFHI and the Aluminum Association.  Tools and resources are provided for groups that wish to implement bottle and can recycling programs at their schools, churches, or local businesses.  This activity can be done on your own or guided by HFH-MW/GW volunteers.
  • Fundraising: Supporting and running fundraising events allows HFH-MW/GW to carry out our mission.  Youth can help by running fun activities like bake sales or taking part in affiliate sponsored events like the springtime Take a Hike for Humanity.
  • Event support: HFH-MW/GW holds multiple events during the year, and often we can use help with support efforts such as setting up, cleaning up, or handing out programs and welcoming attendees.

If you or your group is interested in taking part in one of these great activities, please send an email to volunteer@habitatmwgw.org.  Have another idea for your youth group to get involved?  Let us know!
