Veteran Initiatives
What are Habitat for Humanity -MetroWest/Greater Worcesters Veteran initiatives?
Habitat for Humanity – MetroWest/Greater Worcester is currently involved in two programs to help support veterans within our service area. Both programs are part of our Neighborhood Revitilization Initiative where our affiliate looks to serve more families by responding to community aspirations with an expanded array of products, services and partnership, with the mission of empowering residents to revive their neighborhoods and enhance their quality of life. The first program is through State Farm funding to help veterans with physical disabilities modify their homes for accessibility purposes. The second is through the Home Depot Foundation and works with veteran’s in the MetroWest and Greater Worcester community to do critical home repairs.

The Veteran Home Repair Program through State Farm is part of the Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative. We are looking to partner with disabled US Veterans in our service area by carrying out accessability projects including:
- Wheelchair ramps
- Widening hallways and doorways to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility devices
- Bathroom up-fitting to accommodate mobility issues
- Adaptation of kitchen cabinets
- Other accessibility projects

In addition to our accessibility-focused projects we also partner with US Veterans to work on critical home repairs. Critical home repairs are any projects on owner-occupied homes that include extensive interior or exterior repairs necessary to alleviate health, life, safety/code issues.
