Assistant Ashland ReStore Manager Job Description

Reports to:   ReStore Manager

Description: This positions assists the Store Manager in administrative and operational functions of the Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester Ashland ReStore. The Assistant ReStore Manager assists the Store Manager in achieving operational, financial, administrative and customer service goals


  • Manage the store in the absence of the store manager.
  • Manage all purchased product with the store manager.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service while always seeking to understand the customer and donor needs.
  • Open and close the store as needed.
  • Daily cash drawer reconciliation and deposits.
  • General oversight, development and review of policies, procedures, store operations and volunteer management in coordination with store manager.
  • Assist the ReStore Manager in developing and implementing marketing and public relations campaigns for increasing donations and sales.
  • Assist in procurement from local businesses for the store.
  • Oversee display and organization of showroom sales areas to ensure all items and departments are properly priced and ticketed for sale.
  • Schedule regular training for new and current staff members on new policies and programs.
  • Assist with donation screening, uploading donations and training staff to price.
  • Assist on sales floor and moving sold items as needed.
  • Achieve excellent customer, donor, and volunteer ratings.
  • Assist in training of new hires as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Computer knowledge including Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have willingness to learn other programs as needed.
  • Self-motivated, reliable and enthusiastic. Enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Be empathetic to customers, donors, volunteers and staff while providing excellent service.
  • Ability to handle and defuse challenging situations with tact. Excellent communication and conflict resolutions skills.
  • Commitment to safe working environment.
  • Ability to provide leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers while also having the ability to perform must tasks in the absence of staff or volunteers.
  • Ability to operation office equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Forklift certification a plus.
  • Ability to develop the procurement capabilities of the store and gain donations through the development of key relationships or business and corporations.


  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of retail sales and leadership experience.
  • Retail experience with building materials/hardware preferred.
